OOPS!
Can one use such words in polite company?
I’ll let you decide.
This actually isn’t my first blogging rodeo, though this is the first blog I went out and bought the domain for. I was quite surprised to find TrickBrown.com still available. My previous blogging attempts were for the specific purpose of relieving boredom, and since I can be a little rough around the edges they probably aren’t for the faint of heart. This blog, I expect, will be much more tame.
Speaking of which, I guess I ought to say something about my goals for this blog. In this day and age, it is essentially expected that an aspiring author has a web presence. An outlet for fans to feel they have a stake in the personal life of the author. This is the main purpose of this blog. Self aggrandizing promotion for me and my work.
I admit I am not good at this sort of thing. I am not a salesman. I am principally an introvert, though I have overcome some of these tendencies, I still prefer to remain out of the primary focus. Alas, this is not conducive to self-promotion. Currently, I am not on Facebook or Twitter or any other form of social media. I suppose for now, this is fine since I don’t have any work I am trying to peddle, though this will be coming soon. All I can say is that I will do my best to serve.
I have finished my first novel. Which, of course, is why I am starting my web presence. The only thing left to do is a read through for edits. I imagine I’ll add a little here and there, but by the end of June I hope to have the first completed draft. I’ll save the discussions about this work for future posts. I can’t put it all in here.
Yesterday, I wrote my first short story. At least the first that I would consider publishing. Short stories is not something I expect to be very good with since I tend to get a little epic in my writing scope. Of course, now that I have said that, I guess that means I should work on a few short stories. If for no other reason than to improve where I am weakest.
Hmm, I suppose this is good for now. As a mathematician, I can do the math. Since I have no fans, I doubt too many people will be reading this post. Someday, perhaps that will change.
Nice start. I don’t enjoy blogging either, so I just did a three-week “Boot Camp” in May and I’ll do another in October. I have so little time to write now that I feel a need to spend it on my actual writing projects. Still, here’s a well-wish for your new networking!
And congratulations on finishing the book! I hope to see it in print soon.
Thanks Lucie.
The biggest problem I have with blogging is that it often seems like the words are sent out into the internet black hole. It’s amazing how different it is when you know you have regular readers, even if it is just one or two.
